Suburban Forest Korilovo

Korilovos is the suburban forest of Drama. It is located north of the city, approximately 500 meters from it. The altitude of the area starts from 160 m. and reaches 600 m. The flora of Korivolos consists primarily of black pine, aleppo pine, Calabrian pine, Acacia, cypresses and wild olives. The fauna of this forest consists of birds such as Woodpeckers, goldfinches, doves and other species such as squirrels, turtles and many butterflies.

The residents of Drama visit the forest daily in order to exercise, enjoy the sight and relax. A walk in the scents of pine and cypress, helps everyone forget the urban problems of everyday life. You will see people jogging with their dogs, cyclists, athletes who work out and couples who enjoy the view. Also, there are various footpaths which lead to the top of the hill. You will also see gliders, which enjoy the wind of Drama with their Parapente.

From the top of the mountain you can see the city of Drama, Kalampaki, Mount Paggeo, the villages of Drama, Horisti, Doxato, Agios Athanasios and the castle of Philippi in Lydia. On the right side you can see Mount Menoikio, Prossotsani village and the road leading to the Basin of Nevrokopi and the ski resort of Falakro Mountain.
